Liyuan Theater is the first tea house style theater in Beijing, jointly established by Beijing Qianmen Hotel and Beijing Peking Opera Theatre in October 1990. The Liyuan Theater is located inside the Qianmen Hotel in Hufangqiao, Xuanwu District. For seven consecutive years, it has been awarded the title of 'Best Evening Activity Venue' in the Beijing Tourism Purple Forbidden Cup. The theater consists of three parts: performance hall, exhibition hall, and sales hall. The performance hall consists of a theater stage and audience seats, with a stage height of 8 meters, a width of 12 meters, and a depth of 7 meters. On both sides, there are couplets written by playwright Weng Aohong and Liu Bingsen; There are 8 large Peking Opera masks and 14 painted screens of Peking Opera characters around the audience seats. There are 3 ticket areas with a total of 800 seats, similar to traditional old theater customs. Viewers can enjoy various Beijing snacks and famous teas while enjoying opera performances. There is an exhibition in the exhibition hall showcasing the development history of Peking Opera art for over 200 years. In the exhibition hall, you can purchase Beijing opera crafts and souvenirs, and wear costumes, draw facial masks, and take photos as souvenirs. The main audience of the theater is foreign tourists, and the repertoire mainly consists of excerpts. An electronic display screen is installed in the audience hall, which can display the lyrics in both Chinese and English. Former South Korean President Kim Dae jung, former Japanese Prime Minister Toshiki Haibe, Estonian President Lennart Merry, and others have all enjoyed performances here.
